A Petroleum Engineer with 30 years in academic research and corporate experience in the oil and gas industry. He has practical experience on land, shallow offshore and deepwater exploration, development and production in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, Canada, the Philippines, Nigeria, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, and Mozambique.
Gilbert has held many senior technical, managerial and executive positions in the industry. He was the Senior Vice President for Sasol’s global exploration and production business. Prior to that he was the founder and CEO of Tropic Energy Partners SA, an Africa based and Africa focused independent Oil and Gas Company, with activities across West and Central Africa.
Before founding Tropic, Gilbert was the General Manager for Tullow Oil Plc in Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea, a position he held for 2 years after successfully commissioning and ramping up the Jubilee field in Ghana as its Asset Manager.
Prior to joining Tullow Oil PLC, Gilbert was the Joint Venture Manager for Addax Petroleum International in Gabon, a role he took after a 13 years successful career with Shell International E&P in various technical and managerial capacities in many countries.
Gilbert holds an MBA in Finance and Management, a PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics and a Master in Petroleum Engineering, all from US Universities. His Bachelor degree from Bulgaria is in Oil and Gas Drilling Engineering.
Gilbert is an inventor and an author with a US Patent and several publications in peer reviewed journals in the field of Petroleum, Mechanical, and Computational Engineering. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the National (American) Black MBA Association.
